In our maths lecture today we learnt about error checking, error
correction, Barcodes and QR codes. It was really important for me to understand
these mathematical problems, as I have an assignment which is given to me next
week about this.
At first, I did find it quite difficult to understand how to find the check
Digit of a Barcode, because I have never done this before, but before the
lecture finished, I did have a rough idea of how to solve these problems.
However, I still think I need more practise at this, so at one point this week,
I am going to revise and read through my maths book to get a better idea of how
to do these mathematical problems. I might even look at random Barcodes and
find the check digit number on that. This will be a great way to revise and to
make sure I can really do it, before next week, when actually I start my
assignment.
This is my first blog. I have designed this blog for Sheffield Hallam University, and for my course. I have setup this blog to track my progress and the things that I have learnt whilst studying my modules. Course and your time at University

Relaxing Weekend
There is nothing really exciting to explain about this weekend. Just an
average working weekend, that’s all I can say really. However, it's always good
to have a break from university work for the weekend.
Today, I have a four and half hours of work which is alright, especially when you know after you finish, you have a big pizza hut pizza waiting for you at home. Also, match of the day will be on so I can just catch up on football scores that I have missed.
Tomorrow, same again, I have a four and a half hour shift which is great because I earn more money on Sundays, which i can't complain about that. Then, when I get back, I should be having a Sunday dinner with the family before I head back to Sheffield for the week.
Looking at my timetable for the upcoming week, and I have to say, that this week doesn't look very productive at all because I only have 6 hours of lecture/seminars to do. Better make the most of it then.

Today, I had two seminars which was communication skills, and programming.
In the communications seminar, the instructor showed us how to plan and note down the minute meetings we have in our group. She taught us how to use Google docs and also told us that this is the best tool of contacting and sending copies to other members in my group. She also told us that we need to start recording our meetings on Skype which will be very useful so we can look back at what we have done in the meeting.
In the programming seminar I learned more about codes which was very useful. I feel really confident with this module, and I will go by saying that this is one of my favourite modules. However, I still need more practise if I am going to earn the best grade as possible. So this week I am going to be looking at some tutorials and taking notes from them, so I can improve my knowledge at programming.
Now that I have finished and I have packed my bags, I will be catching the 13.30 bus back home to Mansfield. It’s always good to see the family and friends. Also, I have to go back to working at Morrison’s to earn some good cash which will be needed for the following week.

Today, I had a group meeting. In this group meeting, we had to split the
group into pairs and each group had to prepare for an upcoming interview which
takes place in November. In my group, we have to interview Mr Goose who is a
day career. We planned the questions we were going to ask and how we are going
to go ahead with interview. We came out with some really good ideas of what were
going to ask. I am really confident that this interview will be successful.
After this meeting, I had a seminar on web design. In this seminar, I improved my knowledge on coding and using the text pad programme. Hopefully when it comes to starting my assignment I can apply this knowledge and earn the best grade I can reach.
Now I have no more seminars, I am going to read two chapters on Cisco, which is very important because I have a hardware test in December based on these chapters. When I have finished reading all of the chapters, I am going for a hard work out at the gym, which I need.
