Meeting Agenda

We decided to use google docs to upload our Meeting Agenda so that we can record our Online meeting which took place at EMB

In this meeting we discussed how we are going prepare for our walk through for system and analyse. It was very useful to record this meeting on Google docs because most of my group members live quite far from the University, so doing our meetings on here, made it a lot easier.

Sending System Analyse Models On Google Docs

In our group we decided to use Google Docs to upload our models. This made it easier to do work at home and upload work onto Google Docs so other members of the group can see what you have done.

Thursday, 13 December 2012 Why did I choose to come to University?

I would have to say, the main reason I came to University was the content of my course which had to be a key factor in deciding what type of degree I wanted.

I came to Sheffield because it's the UK's greenest and safest city. Another quality factor that Sheffield Hallam has to offer is that it has a great record with people going into jobs after they graduated.

The main reason why I picked Applied Computing is because the course seemed very employable when comparing to other courses. Studying Web Design, Hardware, Networks and Programming is very important, especially after University because they are three very employable sectors in the IT industry.

My communication and confidence have definitely improved over the past three months, which I would say it down to meeting new people and also down to the communication module, especially after getting a good grade in my interview
Only just a day remaining before Semester One comes to an end; I can definitely say that my skills have developed and that I cannot wait to come back for Semester Two.

Coming To A End Of Semester 1

After a long semester, there are just a few days left to go now. After a worrying start, I can now say, that I have enjoyed all modules for applied computing at Sheffield Hallam University. This semester I think I can reflect on the past months and be really pleased and proud with what I have already achieved. I have already achieved so much here in Sheffield Hallam University, such as, working in groups, web skills and programming. Now that I have improved on these, I can now produce basic to intermediate websites without much assistance. There are still more assignments to be completed so I haven't finished yet, but hopefully in the next couple of days, they will be completed and will achieve the highest mark as possible.

Website Walkthrough

Overall, this website walk through was success. We did feel that we could have got more marks but getting 65% in the walk through, you cannot complain. There was a problem at the start of the walk through, when showing our website to Mr Bowman. Every time he clicked on the website, the layout was different to how we actually created it. Also the buttons wasn't working on it which was also a major concern. But by the end of the walk though, we realised that the problems that was happening to our website was because we used a bigger computer monitor when creating the website and also we used an updated programme to what we should have used.

Mr Bowman said that the colour scheme we used, didn't match the main purpose of the website. He said that we should have used a pale blue colour which funny enough that was our actual colour to our website before we changed it to green.

Everything else, Mr Bowman was really impressed with, especially with the logo that I created. He said it suited its main purpose and it looked sufficient. Also the information we showed in our website was also very useful.

From this walk through, I have learnt a great deal of how to make a much better website and hopefully in the future when creating a website for the university, I can achieve a higher mark. I also learnt that we should have more information and text which will be useful for the audience when viewing our website and also, make sure the colour scheme matches its purpose of whatever I am making the website for.
